This is how I heard it. When Microsoft added the "x" onto the extension of there Office files they in effect became zipped .xml files which lead to all of the files to have their independent files/videos/txt extracted by changing the filename to a .zip extension. This works for all Office files including Word and Excel, etc. It's an awesome trick! Not actually sure I would have shared it...;)
