Like the newsboy cryers of yesteryear, I'm here to share with you the latest and greatest news on this planet.... for SolidWorks 2013 Flow Simulation, that is.
Long requested and also long available for structurual simulation, users have asked for a means to compare study results for Flow Simulation projects. Among the many new enhancements and features to 2013 Flow Simulation, you can now compare results not only across a model's many configurations but also make multiple projects within a configuration and compare those results! While the technique is simple, the implications are humongous!
Obviously one needs a model with more than one flow study. Then it is simply a matter of selecting "Compare" from the Flow Simulation, Results drop-down menu. The dialogue window, at the bottom of your screen is easy to use.
On the left side you can choose to make screen captures of a current displayed result plot, such as flow lines or cut plots. On the right you choose the which studies are participating in the comparison. If you have Parameter results, such as surface, point, or volume then those numerical values are presented in a table format. One needs only to hit the "play" button to generate the comparison.
The active scene are thumbnails of the results plot you were viewing. Here I was comparing 3D flow streams in this perforated pipe. Double-clicking the thumbnails launches whatever default image viewer you have installed. the diskette icon saves those views to the disk.
I had also chosen to compare Surface Parameters and they are seen in the last image.
Now you and I have a wonderfully easy way to compare results' influence on designs all in one interface!
