We all have a lot drives on our computers these days. From Local drives and all their partitions, to optical drives (CD/DVD), and flash card readers (that we can't even use unless there's media in them but for some reason they still show up in the list), to the plethora of network shares our IT department says we "need," even though we only use some of them every other month or so.
Here is an easy way to simplify all that extra baggage in Windows Explorer and see only the stuff you need to:
1. Create a new short cut
2. Browse to the drive or folder you want
3. Choose its' Name
4. Press Finish
(that's the easy part that you probably know)
an alternate to this would be to right click and drag the folder/drive you want and pick 'Create Shortcuts Here'
5. Edit the Target to say:
"C:\Windows\explorer.exe /e, /root,
Where <Path> is the full path to the folder
you want the shortcut to resolve to.
6. (Optional) Click the change Icon button and pick an Icon that makes more sense to you than the default shortcut.
(For the final result see the last picture below)
Notice that there are no other folders other than the C drive for a much cleaner view of only the file you want to see.
