You've heard us say time and time again, "Was your antivirus disabled when you loaded... ?", and you say "Yes, I know I disabled it..." yet you are still having a strange problem that isn't consistent with other computers on the same service pack.
I was recently at a customer who was using Symantec AntiVirus and there were 8 processes from Symantec alone that needed to be killed. Not to mention other processes like antispyware.
Turning it off via the software or even stopping the services was not sufficient. Over 5 of the processes were still running even after stopping the services. In order to figure out which processes to shut down I simply typed every single running process on the computer in to a web search (Google wasn't the best for this, windows live search did exceptional) and looked at the first few results to see what program the process was associated with. I will start posting blog entries of different versions of AntiVirus that I encounter, so keep watching the GXSC SolidNotes blog and we'll try get through this together.
